Generosity is able to process refunds upon donors' request, provided the funds have not yet been disbursed to the organizer.
To request a refund, please contact us with the name of the fundraiser you supported, your donation amount, your name, and the email address you provided during the donation process.
Please note that we will not be able to refund your donation if the amount has already been sent to the organizer. If you'd like a refund for your donation after the funds have been disbursed to the organizer, please contact the organizer directly with your request.
What happens if I cancelled the credit card I used to make my original donation? How will I get my refund?
Your refunded donation will still get sent back to your original credit card's issuing bank without issue. From there, the issuing bank will determine how to get the funds to you:
- If there is a balance owed on the card, it offsets the balance.
- If you opened up a different card, the issuer usually transfers the credit to the new account.
- Sometimes the issuer will cut a check to the customer.
Regardless of which way the issuing bank handles this, the card issuer will handle reimbursing the donor. We recommend reaching out to your issuing bank if you have any questions about how you will be receiving a refund sent to your cancelled credit card.
Generosity is able to process refunds upon donors' request, provided the funds have not yet been disbursed to the organizer. However, once a donation has been disbursed to the organizer/beneficiary, Generosity is no longer able to issue a refund, and it is the organizer who would issue the refund, directly.
If you need to refund your donor(s) after the funds have already been sent to you, you will have to do so off-platform. In this case, we recommend you work with your donor(s) to determine the best method of refunds for both you and the donor.
Negative Net Disbursements
If a fundraiser has not raised enough money by its deadline to cover the cost of disbursement (particularly 3rd party fees or wire fees), you may see that your donation has been refunded after the fundraiser ends.
